Eat and drink on the gaming floor
Centre Bar serves breakfast for ninety minutes — 9:30 to 11 — while slots wake at 10 and three partner kitchens keep their own clocks. Melrose opens daily from 11 am. Hitman's from 4 pm. Second Son Thursday through Saturday from 4:30 pm. One Stampede Park building holds a hub bar on the gaming floor, a Sports Lounge with 25-foot TSN screens, and fusion dining most visitors do not expect downtown.
Eat and drink on the gaming floor
Centre Bar & Eatery sits on the gaming floor with cocktails, local beers, TVs, and pit energy. Its menu pulls select items from Melrose, Hitman's Bar, and Second Son so you order without leaving the action.
Cowboys Dance Hall has closed. Penny Lane Entertainment has decided to focus on other areas of their business. The casino remains open and operating as usual, and the property will be rebranded in the coming months. Plan food and drink around Centre Bar, Melrose, Hitman's Bar, or Second Son instead.
Centre Bar & Eatery
COLD DRINKS. TASTY EATS. GOOD TIMES. Centre Bar anchors cocktails, local beers, and partner bites on the gaming floor.
Breakfast runs 9:30 am to 11 am daily — not all-day brunch. Want food before slots at 10? Plan arrival through the parkade-to-pit guide.
Happy hour pricing: domestic beer $5.75, well spirits $5.75, house wine $6.75, handcrafted cocktails $5.75. Daily features:
- Saddle Up Sundays
- Maverick Mondays (all-day happy hour)
- Tequila Trail Tuesdays
- Whisky & Wine Wednesdays
- Town Tavern Thursdays
Flames home game hockey specials run all day — Banded Peak and Michelob Ultra on the Centre Bar menu. Spolumbo's sandwich combo is $12.00. Private events fit 10 to 40 guests.
Sports Lounge
On Flames home game nights, the Sports Lounge keeps you in the building. Twenty-five-foot big screens carry daily TSN broadcasts. Leather seating, high-top tables, and USB charging ports see you through long third periods.
A dedicated server brings Centre Bar menu items to your seat. Walk-ins welcome based on availability. Groups of 10 to 40 can book. Corporate add-ons — Table Match Plays, slot tournaments, Learn to Play — sit on the Calgary nights calendar.
Arrive early on Flames home games Thursdays. Live DJ sets run every weekend and on Flames game Thursdays with 3 am last call.
Second Son — Hong Kong fusion, Thu–Sat only
Second Son is the venue most visitors do not see coming. In the same building as reel slots and live dealers, Chef Jacob serves Hong Kong–inspired fusion — dim sum and stir-fries where pub food would feel predictable. Most Calgary casino floors stop at wings and burgers. Second Son breaks that pattern without leaving the building.
Second Son opens Thursday through Saturday only, from 4:30 pm until late. Melrose runs daily from 11 am. Hitman's from 4 pm nightly. Arrive before 4 pm on a Tuesday expecting fusion and you will wait. Book the week around Thursday, Friday, or Saturday if this kitchen is the draw.
Centre Bar pulls partner bites to the floor. Second Son is its own dining room — same ID check, separate kitchen. Couples pair Thursday or Friday dinner with noon table games the next day. Office groups in the Entertainment District can eat fusion here without a second parking stop.
Same dress rules apply as elsewhere in the building. Lost items: event@melrosecalgary.com.
Melrose and Hitman's Bar
Melrose covers daily lunch. Hitman's ramps up after work.

What Calgary guests say about the food
Public Google reviews often mention Centre Bar value — pub-style pricing and daily features feel accessible next to a full restaurant tab downtown. Online feedback frequently highlights the breakfast window: early arrivals appreciate hot food before slots, but the 9:30 to 11 am cutoff is tight when parking or ID lines run long.
Visitor feedback online frequently notes Second Son's surprise factor and the Thursday-to-Saturday planning window. Sports Lounge comments praise screen size and server-to-seat service on Flames nights, with occasional wait-time notes when Saddledome crowds spill over. Peak Stampede or game weeks bring mixed service-speed comments — arrive early.
